Overview

Delay (“the App,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is a mobile application designed to help users practice non-response techniques for managing OCD urges. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Important: This app is created by an individual with lived OCD experience, not by a licensed medical professional. The app is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.

Information We Collect

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following data locally on your device only:

  • Practice history: Dates you used the app and session durations
  • Preferences: Settings like dark mode, haptic feedback, notification preferences
  • Worry container entries: Text you voluntarily enter into the “Contain” feature
  • Session window assignments: Your assigned daily practice time
  • Trial and subscription status: Whether you’re in a trial period or have an active subscription

This data never leaves your device. We do not have access to it, cannot read it, and do not transmit it to any server.

Information Processed by Third Parties

RevenueCat (Subscription Management)

When you subscribe to Delay Pro, RevenueCat processes your purchase. RevenueCat may collect:

  • Anonymous device identifiers
  • Purchase history and subscription status
  • Country/region (for currency)

RevenueCat does not have access to your name, email, or any data you enter in the app. See RevenueCat’s privacy policy: www.revenuecat.com/privacy.

Apple App Store / Google Play Store

Your payment is processed by Apple or Google, not by us. We never see your payment details, credit card information, or Apple ID/Google account information.

PostHog (Anonymous Analytics)

We use PostHog to collect anonymous usage analytics to help us improve the app. PostHog collects:

  • Screens viewed and button interactions
  • Timer sessions (duration and focus category only, not your thoughts)
  • Tool usage patterns
  • Onboarding selections (OCD subtypes you identify with, frequency, goals, reduction targets, motivations)
  • Settings changes
  • Subscription events

PostHog does not collect or have access to:

  • Your personal data or identity
  • The content of your thoughts, worries, or entries
  • Any text you type into the app

Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect:

  • Your name, email address, or contact information
  • Your location
  • Your health data or medical history
  • The content of your thoughts, worries, or entries
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Any personally identifiable information

How We Use Information

The locally stored data is used solely to:

  • Track your practice history (shown only to you)
  • Remember your preferences
  • Store worry entries for the Contain feature
  • Manage your subscription status

We do not use your data for:

  • Advertising
  • Marketing
  • Machine learning or AI training
  • Sale to third parties

Anonymous analytics (via PostHog) are used solely to understand how people use the app so we can improve it. We never see your personal information or the content of your entries.

Data Security

  • All app data is stored locally on your device using standard iOS/Android secure storage
  • We do not operate servers that store your data
  • If you delete the app, all locally stored data is permanently deleted
  • We cannot recover your data if you lose your device or delete the app

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone.

The only third-party services involved are:

  • RevenueCat: For subscription management (processes purchase data only)
  • PostHog: For anonymous usage analytics (does not access your personal data or entries)
  • Apple/Google: For payment processing (we never see payment details)

Children’s Privacy

This app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data: All your data is stored locally on your device; you have full access
  • Delete your data: Delete the app to permanently remove all stored data
  • Export your data:Use the “Clinician Export” feature to generate a PDF of your practice history

Since we don’t collect or store your data on our servers, we cannot provide data access requests — your data exists only on your device.

Clinician Export Feature

The app includes a feature to export your practice history as a PDF to share with a therapist or healthcare provider. This export:

  • Is initiated only by you
  • Is generated locally on your device
  • Is shared only if you choose to share it
  • Contains only practice dates and durations, not thought content

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
